Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using Bibbit. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Bibbit.

1. The service

Bibbit is an AI-powered tool that reads bib numbers and performs face recognition in event photography galleries hosted on SmugMug. Bibbit writes keyword metadata back to SmugMug to make galleries searchable by bib number.

Use of Bibbit requires a valid SmugMug account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your SmugMug credentials and any activity that occurs under your account.

2. Acceptable use

You agree to use Bibbit only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person or organisation.
  • Process photos or data to which you do not have the right to access or annotate.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the service.
  • Use the service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure.

3. Your content and SmugMug

Bibbit accesses your SmugMug galleries solely to perform bib and face detection and to write keyword metadata. You retain full ownership of your photos and galleries. Bibbit does not claim any rights to your content.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Bibbit complies with SmugMug's own Terms of Service and that you have the necessary rights to process and keyword the photos in your galleries.

4. Privacy and data

Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

5. Intellectual property

Bibbit and its original content (excluding content provided by users) are the property of Bibbit and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the service without our written permission.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Bibbit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI detection results will be accurate or complete. Bib detection and face recognition are probabilistic; results should be reviewed before relying on them.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bibbit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service ā€” including but not limited to errors in keyword data written to your SmugMug gallery.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Bibbit at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. You may stop using the service at any time by revoking Bibbit's access in your SmugMug account settings.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of competent jurisdiction.
